Liquid Aluminum Sulfate Antitrust Litigation
Block & Leviton partner Whitney Street has been appointed to the Plaintiffs' Steering Committee in a class action case against the manufacturers of aluminum sulfate alleging that the defendants engaged in price fixing, bid riggin, and market allocation in violation of the federal antitrust laws. Members of the proposed class include water district authorities and pulp and paper companies. The misconduct occurred during the period January 1, 1997 until at least July 31, 2010. The Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation have launched investigations, which have yielded a guilty plea by a former executive of one of the defendant companies, as well as two additional indictments.
