Block & Leviton’s Lesley Weaver Appointed To Steering Committee For Volkswagen, Audi, And Porsche Diesel Emission Scandal
More than 150 law firms from across the country sought appointment to the “dream team” to represent consumers in claims against VW, Audi and Porsche for its clean diesel emission scandal. VW has admitted that it installed defeat devices in its so-called clean diesel engines that cut fuel emission curbs during normal driving but allowed the emissions curbs to kick in when the automobile was being tested.
After a thorough vetting process, which included following up on references from other Judges and respected lawyers, Senior Judge Charles Breyer of the Northern District of California selected only 22 lawyers of the 150 seeking appointment to represent potential class members, including partner Lesley Weaver of Block & Leviton LLP.
“We are looking forward to working with lead counsel and the talented members of the steering committee to ensure a just and fair result for all those who purchased what they thought was a cutting edge clean diesel engine, only to learn that those vehicles are actually emitting 40 times more pollutants into the environment than permitted.” said Ms. Weaver.
